Live Bootleg

Some Other Time (1995)

Reviewed by Tony Gisondi, April 2001

This first release by Travis was a solo album. He has a backing band working with him consisting of four other people. What he created is some of the best music to come out of the southeastern states.

Many of the songs on the disc are favorite among the already extensive fan base of Travis Allison Band. "Open E Tune" can be considered one of the classics that Travis Allison has written. It is a magnificent song with excellent melody. "Who Are You" and "Mrs. Fate" have received a lot of buzz and are both excellent songs on this debut album. The title track of the disc was even featured on a nationally distributed album.

There is no way to dispute the excellence of Travis Allison and his band. They have stumbled onto a style of music that many struggle to make work. Travis's awesome songwriting skills and musical talents make him rise above the rest to create music for the people who actually love music.

It is no wonder that a man with no record label can do so well in a time where his music doesn't fit in. The problem is, his music does fit in, he's just not given the credit he deserves. This album is a testimony to the ability and hard work that Travis puts into the creation of his music. Debut albums only come once, so there is much need to make a big impression. Travis makes a very big impression with his debut—and a lasting one at that.
